A spiritual law to few of us realize is: Our confessions rule us.
When we use the word confession a lot of us think about confessing sin. The Bible does say that “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1John 1:9) That’s the negative side of confession. There’s a positive side to our confession, it’s our Faith.
If you really believe a thing in your heart- positive or negative- and say it with your mouth, you will have what you say. “with the heart man believes, and with the mouth confession is made unto”(Rom 10:10), any of the provisions of God. And “…he shall have whatsoever he says” (Mark 11:23)
The majority of Christians today- though they mean well- are weak. Why? Because they never really confess what the Bible says they are. Many maintain a wrong confession instead of holding fast to the right confession. A wrong confession is a confession of defeat, of failure. They are always talking about what the devil is doing in their lives, what they’re going through, how he’s keeping them from success, keeping them sick, holding them in bondage. And as long as you continue to talk like that, that’s exactly what your going to have. God is not a failure. Defeat is not of God.
Your testimony is part of your faith life. Continually tell what the Lord is doing for you. The more you talk about it, the more real He becomes to you.
The less you talk about what God’s doing, the less real it becomes.
Jesus said, “… if my words abide in you…” Abide means to live. His word should live in you to the extent that you practice it, you speak it out.
The Word lives in you only to the measure you practice it. You should let the Word have free course in your life, teaching you, dominating you.
Jesus said, “ For by your WORDS thou shall be justified, and by your WORDS you shall be condemned” (Matthew 12:37) Our words spoke yesterday - made life what it is today. Learn to make your words work for you. Words filled with power, full of life and victory in every area of your life. If your defeated your defeated with your own lips.
Words are containers and they can make an impact on others. Words filled with love, joy, peace and encouragement can lift a person up, while words filled with doubt, unbelief, jealousy, and hatred can destroy an individual. A nasty word spoken in anger can rob a person of having a blessed day. On the other hand, an uplifting encouraging word can take a person to new heights throughout the day. Words create the world we live in. They carry us to success or failure.
Electricity is carried by wires. But on occasion wires can get crossed and cause a short circuit. When this happens, sparks begin to fly, breakers start to trip and even light bulbs start popping. Speaking the wrong words is like crossing electric wires. We cause things to happen we don’t want to happen. When we speak the right words, we release the power of God to operate in our lives. When we speak opposite of what is written in scripture, we stop the power of God from working for us. So whatever we say today is what we get in the future.
Proverbs 6:2 says that “we are snared by the words of our mouths.” And whether we like it or not, we are living in line with what we are saying. If we continually say things like, “I cant” or “I never do anything right” or “I’m always messing up” That’s exactly what we’ll get. Start saying “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me” (Phil. 4:13)
That “No weapon formed against me will prosper” (Isa. 54:17) Our mouths should be filled with what the word of God says about us, that “God always gives me the victory through my Lord Christ Jesus” (1Cor. 15:57). “I always triumph in Christ” (2Cor. 2:14) That, “My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil.4:19) And “By His stripes I am healed from ALL sickness and disease’ (1Peter 2:24)
We hold the power to change our lives by the words we speak. Our words build a road that we will travel over. If we speak negatively, that road will take us farther away from God’s best in life. If we speak in line with what God says about us, our highway will lead to an abundant life filled with peace, prosperity, health, deliverance, and every other Blessing.
Our talk always precedes our walk. So make up your mind to speak words of life - words that will bring the good things of God to us.
As you do this you will see what God has promised in His word will come to pass in your life.
